Natural Remedies For Premature Graying Of Hair

Premature graying of hair is the most common hair problem among people these days. Generally, gray hair occurs naturally as people age but for some people this happens at very young age which is commonly called premature graying of hair. In some cases it is caused due to thyroid deficiencies or a vitamin B12 deficiency. And basically, grey hair is a result of lack of pigmentation or melanin in the body. At some point of time, cells that are located in the base of the hair’s follicles slow and eventually stop producing the pigment leading to premature graying of hair.

a) Amla(Indian Gooseberry) paste

Take dried Amla (Indian Gooseberry) powder and add water(as required) to form a thick paste. Thereafter, apply this paste on the scalp and wash it after 5-10 minutes. This will stop your premature graying of hair and even your hair fall. Follow this remedy twice a week for at least three months continuously.

b) Washing hair with Amla (Indian Gooseberry) water is best of all

The method is as follows: Roughly tamp 25 gram of dried Amla (Indian Gooseberry) and soak it overnight in 250 ml of water. Grind the pulp using your hands and strain the water through a thin cotton cloth. Now gently massage this filtered Amla water into the roots of your hair and wash it after 10-20 minutes with plain water. Use this remedy once a week if you have dry hair and twice a week if you have oily hair. You can wash your hair with this water daily if required in the beginning. For better and quick results, massage your hair with Amla (Indian Gooseberry) oil one hour before wash or a night before the wash. Amla is considered as one of the best natural remedies for keeping hair healthy.




Amla (Indian Gooseberry) juice-500ml

Coconut oil-500ml


Take fresh green Amla (Indian Gooseberry) and grate them and strain the same through a thin cloth to obtain 500 ml of juice. Take an iron vessel or an earthen pot and pour the juice into it then add 500 ml of coconut oil to it. Heat the oil on a low flame till the Amla (Indian Gooseberry) juice stops crackling and only the oil remains in the vessel. Take the vessel off the flame. Let it cool. Strain this oil through a thin cotton cloth or a filter bag. Thereafter, keep this oil in a bottle and bring this in your daily use. Gently massage this oil into your scalp using your fingertips from the roots to ends.  This will support the hair growth and will keep your hair black as it is considered as one of the best natural remedies for maintaining the pigmentation of hair.



150 grams of seedless dried Amla (Indian Gooseberry)

600 ml of water

500 ml of sesame (black seeds) oil


Take 150 gram of dried seedless Amla (Indian Gooseberry), tamp the same and soak it in 600 ml of water in an earthen pot in the night. After 15 hours of soaking, keep the pot on a low flame and let it cook slowly. When the water reduces to about 300 ml, take the pot off the flame and let it cool. Strain the mixture through a thin cotton cloth. The pulp will be strained down through the cloth with the water leaving the leftover on the cloth. Pour this water in another vessel and add 500 ml of sesame(black seeds) oil and keep the vessel on a low flame and let it cook till only the oil remains in the vessel. Let it cool and then strain it in a bottle.
